DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Division of Student Affairs and Success (DSAS) is a united
division in service of students. The division's North Star values
include student-centered decision making, innovation and equity and
inclusion. DSAS consists of nearly 800 team members spanning 35
departments and 4 major units, each led by an associate vice
chancellor. The division provides campus-wide coordination and
leadership for student success programs, activities, and
initiatives. The division also does our work through a range of
resource centers dedicated to providing direct student support. The
division's work is grounded in educational equity, institutional
responsibility, and an unfettered commitment to supporting the
whole student. The division aspires to ensure every student feels
welcomed, supported, and a sense of belonging during their time on
campus. The division's efforts are informed by robust and dynamic
relationships with campus leadership, faculty, students, and staff
from across the campus, reflecting the broad campus commitment to
ensuring student success. Beyond UC Santa Cruz, the team is
involved in numerous professional organizations and highly engaged
in the local community.
Colleges, Housing, and Educational Services (CHES) is a
multi-funded organization of the Division of Student Affairs and
Success (DSAS) at UC Santa Cruz. CHES provides leadership in the
areas of college student life and residential services, housing
services, facilities, capital planning, dining services, conference
services, early education services, and business analysis for these
areas. Through these units, educational and developmental programs
and services are offered to all members of the campus community
including students, faculty, staff, children, and external
constituents. CHES provides on-campus housing and dining services
to approximately 9,500 undergraduates and graduate students in ten
residential colleges and six multi-college affiliated residential
communities which support single students and students with
families.
CHES employs approximately 500 represented and non-represented
career staff and over 1,000 student staff, and manages a
multi-funded annual operating budget of $112 million and a reserve
fund of approximately $55 million. Represented staff include staff
members under the following union contracts: UC/CUE Clerical and
Allied Services, UC/AFSCME Service Employees, and UC/AFSCME Skilled
Crafts. Managed funds include auxiliary income from housing,
dining, and conference services, as well as child care fees,
compulsory student fees, grants and contracts, private gifts and
endowments and student services fees.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor for
Colleges, Housing and Educational Services (CHES), the Senior
Support and Project Analyst uses skills as a seasoned, experienced
professional with a full understanding of analytical practices,
policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops
solutions to a wide range of issues. The incumbent will also
support the AVC and the Executive Director of Housing Services with
administrative and clerical support, including calendaring,
coordinating travel, and meeting/event logistical support for the
AVC. The Senior Support and Project Analyst demonstrates good
judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining
solutions. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals
which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Develops new
programs, policies or procedures for possible implementation. The
Senior Support and Policy Analyst will address problems of diverse
scope that will require demonstrating good judgment in selecting
methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Budgeted Salary: $90,000 - $95,000 / annually. Salary commensurate
with skills, qualifications and experience.
Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is
required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this
role. The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University
reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed
this posted amount.

JOB DUTIES
30% - Project Management
Applies theory and puts into practice with an in-depth
understanding of concepts related to analysis of data and systems
pertaining to complex projects, policies, initiatives, processes,
and or functions on behalf of the AVC, requiring facilitation and
collaboration with representation across the division and the
campus.
Engages in the research process and implementation of special
projects under the direction / in collaboration with the AVC.
Records and follows up on action items and projects from campus
committees and teams to ensure projects are moving forward.
Engages with colleagues in departments across campus to advocate
for divisional initiatives and seek resolution to a myriad of
policy and administration issues.
Supports the AVC on a myriad of student related initiatives and
programs.
30% - Administrative Coordination & Event Support
Schedules and assists the AVC to be accessible to staff, faculty,
and students and provide administrative interface to set up and
charge teams as appropriate.
Provides administrative interface, coordinating with various campus
offices to support division wide committees, campus committees, and
project teams.
Maintains a comprehensive database of initiatives and assignments,
to include actions delegated.
Coordinates and provides support for special events, meetings, and
unit wide activities.
Supports AVC and the Executive Director of Housing Services with
administrative and clerical projects such as calendaring, travel
coordination, and special projects.
30% - Policy, Analysis, and Communications
Researches, monitors and analyzes regulations, legislation,
research literature and UC policies for impact on the organization
or initiative.
Receives, reviews and conducts initial analysis of personnel
actions, and supports division wide personnel programs.
Researches and analyzes processes and procedures, summarizes
findings, policies and organizational structures in order to
develop and / or implement changes and to provide provide
consultative services to department administrators, partners and
external stakeholders.
Performs ad hoc, analytical studies on a wide variety of policies,
programs and issues which are complex in nature.
Proposes, leads and / or participates on policy and planning
committees and working groups. Provides strategy development for
organizational or research initiatives.
Develops proposals and recommendations to guide and support a
broader strategic direction for the organization or initiative.
Coordinates efforts with a variety of external and internal
contacts; researches organizational structures, policies and
procedures and summarizes best practices in the field. Provides
technical guidance and quality assessment.
Performs ad hoc, analytical studies on a wide variety of policies,
programs and issues that are complex in nature
Represents AVC at campus wide committee and initiatives as
needed.
10% - Other Duties as Assigned
Incumbent will provide other duties as assigned in support of CHES
and the AVC.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills to analyze and
interpret written material and oral requirements, and to draw
conclusions and make recommendations.
Strong skills in short- and long-range planning, program and
project management, facilitation, and collaboration.
Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large
amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant
proposals/analyses.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
